As with our partners in the network, the UConn team realizes that historic moments like this require more vigilant planning and intentionality around maintaining ongoing communication with the university leaders, faculty and students to impact (directly or indirectly) ongoing activities/externally funded research and scholarly work, especially those explicitly related to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice.

We represent a variety — but certainly not all — of lived experiences and current professional roles. We invite you to join us  to bring your perspective and expertise to the table.

As UConn team continues to grow and we embark on this journey, we recognize our engaged faculty, collaborators and departments!

  • Dr. Sara Stifano and her mentee Rachel Tucker, Department of Communication: They are analyzing similarities on differences of faculty development communities in LCC5.
  • Drs. Nora Madjar, Alexandra (Alex) Rheinhardt, and Graduate Student Amnah Ameen School of Business: They are conducting a research study on invisible tasks and gender at the workplace. The aim is to unpack the experiences and perceived impact on career progression of women engaging in service work in the context of an R1 institution, including any negative or positive feelings and/or outcomes related to taking on this work. They are currently recruiting participants.
  • The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee (current co-chairs Dr. Barbara Mellone, Dr. Jonathan Klassen, and Dr. Juliet Lee) is a team of faculty and graduate students who are advancing DEI in STEM via education and advocacy. The group welcomes partners as we work towards the full and free participation of everyone in our communities regardless of their identities. Their initiatives (e.g., seminars and other resources) can be found at https://mcb.uconn.edu/mcb-diversity-and-inclusion/.
  • Dr. Pallavi Limaye is an in-Residence faculty from the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the Hartford campus.  She is building on refining her approach to scaffolded grading in her biology classes.  To this end, she is collaborating with the Academic Achievement Center, CETL and Hartford leadership to promote equity and inclusion. She is also spearheading the establishment of a faculty learning community at the Hartford campus.
